The outspoken founder of Big Baller Brand LaVar Ball, who once made the delusional claim he could beat Michael Jordan in a game of one-on-one, is still throwing shade at the GOAT, insisting his son—NBA Rookie of the Year LaMelo Ball—has never sought the Hall-of-Famer’s advice. “How often does he seek out advice from Michael Jordan? Never!” said Ball in an audio clip shared by Hoopsview. “What advice is he going to give him?”
Jordan, the Hornets’ majority owner since 2010, was instrumental in bringing LaMelo to Charlotte, selecting him with the third overall pick in last year’s NBA Draft. Given his pedigree as a 14-time All-Star and six-time Finals MVP, Jordan would seem to be an ideal mentor for Ball, an exciting talent still early in his NBA development. But not if you ask his old man, who doesn’t think Jordan, despite an obscene trophy haul and a list of accomplishments that barely fits on a Wikipedia page, has anything to offer from that perspective.

“Do you ever have milk in your refrigerator?” asked LaVar, boldly comparing the greatest player in NBA history to bad milk. “When the damn thing expires, I hope you throw it away. When was the last time [Jordan] won a championship?”
Ball, who recently wore an “I Told You So!” hat to a game between his sons Lonzo (now of the Chicago Bulls) and LaMelo, cited the Hornets’ lack of success in his dismissal of Jordan, implying the game has passed him by.
“The Charlotte Hornets been around a long time before my son got there,” said Ball in his takedown of MJ, who just so happens to be his son’s boss. “[Give advice to] some of them [other] guys so you can win! Don’t wait to tell my boy.”
It’s hard to know if LaVar is serious or just trolling (given his penchant for spewing outrageous takes without repercussion, it’s probably the latter), though it will be interesting to see what, if any, impact his criticism has on LaMelo’s relationship with Jordan.
