Tim Tebow’s tight end experiment in Jacksonville could prove short-lived but at least he made it a full 24 hours. Barely a day after announcing his plans to stage a comeback as an NFL defensive end, former Giants running back Brandon Jacobs appears to already be having second thoughts.
The 38-year-old knew he’d face an uphill battle attempting a comeback after an eight-year NFL layoff (at a completely new position, no less), but come on, where’s your follow-through? From the looks of it, Jacobs took to his local practice field (working out just long enough to post a shirtless photo on Twitter), then, upon realizing getting back into shape would impact his consumption of chitterlings, decided it wasn’t worth it and bagged the whole project. Perhaps spite wasn’t a strong enough motivator for Jacobs, who, as recently as yesterday, declared himself a superior athlete to Tebow.
If Jacobs chooses chitterlings over a return to the gridiron—and he seems to be leaning that way—the 6’4” ball-carrier will finish his career with 5,837 yards (5,094 rushing, 743 receiving), 64 touchdowns and two Super Bowl rings, feats accomplished over nine NFL seasons including eight with his beloved G-Men.
