On Carolina’s first offensive possession, Newton orchestrated a nine-play, 75-yard drive, completing all three pass attempts for 31 yards, including a 10-yard touchdown pass to DJ Moore to give the Panthers an early 7-0 lead on the Washington Football Team.

Newton was given some goal-line snaps against the Cardinals last week, rushing for a touchdown and throwing for another one.

It’s likely the 32-year-old could finish the remainder of the seasons with the Panthers, as he was signed following news that a struggling Sam Darnold would be out several weeks with a shoulder injury.

Newton struggled with the New England Patriots last year, throwing just eight touchdown passes in 15 games. He now has two in 18 snaps, plus a rushing score.

Newton also had a special, goosebump-inducing introduction as the former MVP took the field at Bank of America Stadium.

If that wasn't good enough, Newton later looked to be in vintage form as he rushed for a 24-yard touchdown, leading to his patented Superman celebration.
