They say, “If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em.” Over the course of his extraordinary 22-year career, Tom Brady held a losing record against only two teams—Seattle (1-2) and New Orleans (4-5). Brady, for whatever reason, could never get a handle on the Saints, losing both times he faced them this season and twice the year prior, though he did win his lone postseason encounter with New Orleans in 2020. With Brady already opening the door for a possible return by giving a noncommittal “Never say never” on his weekly podcast with Jim Gray, Saints Pro Bowler Cameron Jordan is already pitching Brady on playing in the Big Easy.

“Tom Brady just left it open,” Jordan told Jim Rome Tuesday on Radio Row in Los Angeles ahead of Super Bowl LVI. “There’s a lot of, ‘Hmm, will he come back?’ And if he’s going to come back, does he want to put on the black and gold?”
Jordan can’t be accused of tampering since Brady is already retired, though the Bucs do retain his rights, should the GOAT decide to give it one more go. In that scenario, Tampa Bay could either release Brady and allow him to sign with a team of his choosing, or trade him, just as the Patriots did when Rob Gronkowski unretired in 2020 (the Raiders acquired Marshawn Lynch from the Seahawks under similar circumstances).
Should such a situation arise, the Bucs would likely do whatever possible to keep Brady from defecting to a division rival, though you could hardly blame Jordan for trying. The Saints need all the help they can get at quarterback with starter Jameis Winston headed for free agency this offseason. If not Brady, Jordan said he’d gladly pivot to one of Lamar Jackson, Russell Wilson or Aaron Rodgers, with the latter two both known to be seeking a change of scenery. Jordan did not, however, mention Kyler Murray, who fueled trade speculation Tuesday by unfollowing the Cardinals across all social media platforms.
