Just hours after we learned that Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady has signed a massive deal to join the broadcast team at FOX Sports once his playing career is over, a fellow Michigan alum has an idea of what team he would like to see play in the seven-time Super Bowl Champion's TV debut.
On his show Tuesday, Rich Eisen made quick work in declaring who he wants to see play in the game Brady makes his broadcasting debut during.
"As you know, there are production meetings before the games that the broadcasters take part in where they meet with the coaches and the quarterbacks. I can only hope that when Brady does retire, the first game on FOX is at New England ... where he's in the booth there in New England, and he has a production meeting with [Bill] Belichick and Mac Jones."
Given that CBS typically gets prime-time games involving AFC teams, it feels unlikely that a Patriots game would be on FOX in Week 1 unless the matchup they were taking part in wasn't seen as desirable by the network. But who knows, the way Brady played in 2021, he could very well play long enough that Belichick isn't even in New England anymore by the time he's ready to switch to his second career.
Whenever Brady's retires from playing for good, he'll join Kevin Burkhardt on FOX's No. 1 broadcast team. That booth will be the long-term successor to Joe Buck and Troy Aikman, who departed FOX to join ESPN this offseason. Brady -- the most accomplished player in NFL history -- signed a 10-year/$375 million deal to join FOX, per Andrew Marchand of The New York Post.
