If the cleat fits, wear it. And if it doesn't, even for just one play, toss it aside and hope that you don't get blitzed by a group of terrifyingly large defensive linemen and linebackers.

That must have been Kirk Cousins' mentality as he took a snap against the Seattle Seahawks in the first half on Sunday, seeing as he quite literally couldn't fit into his right cleat and decided that instead of hobbling along with his foot half-inside his shoe, it would be better to just fling it backward.
It wasn't quite as bad as when former Florida Gators defensive back Marco Wilson, now on the Cardinals, decided to fling an opponent's cleat down the field, but it was noteworthy nonetheless.
Unfortunately, Cousins couldn't make it happen on that third down play to start off the second quarter, resulting in a punt for the Vikings. That was the only drive of the game that ended as such, however, with the Minnesota's three other first-half drives resulting in a Cousins-to-Tyler Conklin TD, a Cousins-to-Adam Thielen TD, and a Cousins-to-Justin Jefferson TD. Not bad.
We'll see what the second half holds for Cousins and co., and that includes whether or not his cleats decide to cooperate throughout the remaining 30 minutes of football.
