Michael Strahan was never really going to get rid of his gap tooth.

The former New York Giants star had posted a video on Twitter Tuesday that showed him undergoing dental work to fix his signature gap tooth.

On Thursday, April 1, he provided an update in which he revealed that it was an April Fool’s joke all along.

Many on Twitter had noted the precarious timing of Strahan’s new look and the Hall of Famer appeared to be calling them out when he started his video on Thursday, adding he was surprised that so many people did want want him to lose the gap.

“I appreciate all the love for the gap,” he said. “I’ve had it for almost 50 years now. A lot of people out there have said it makes me feel good about rocking mine…I know the shocker of seeing it gone and …. Be you. Be the way you want to live.

“I did. I am happy that I did it and I just wanted to say: April Fool’s! Come on, man.”

Strahan said he actually feels bad about not closing it after seeing but “momma likes it.”

Mother’s know best and the gap is here to stay.
