Mitch Trubisky threw for 199 yards and a lone touchdown in the Bears' loss to the Saints in the Wild Card to end Chicago's 2020 season. You know what adjective doesn't come to mind when describing that performance? Award-winning — but that's exactly what Trubisky's effort was, thanks to the power of the internet and the influence of personalities from media giant Barstool Sports.

This is all objectively funny. But can you imagine the end of the game from Trubisky's perspective, after a crushing defeat (that would ultimately be his final game in a Bears uniform, for now) and without too much to show for... and then hearing that you've won an award?

Now, we no longer have to imagine what it must have been like. Trubisky joined the Barstool guys on "Pardon My Take" and recounted what the experience was like for him.

"I'm not sure how I got it, I think I have you guys to thank for a lot of it..." Trubisky told Big Cat and PFT Commenter. "They just told me and I was like, 'Oh cool, is there like a trophy or something?'

"It was tough because it was emotional. The season just ended, we lost the game, it was a rough game, honestly. And they were like you won something, and I thought they were just messing with me... and NVP sounds like MVP. I was like, there's no way, you can't win an MVP with a game like that."

But when the vote is established by the fans and the votes are made based more on what a funny outcome would be as opposed to who actually deserves the award, you sure can win an MVP — er, NVP — with a game like Trubisky had. With all that said, the trophy is pretty nice, and Trubisky revealed a cool little feature of the orange piece of hardware.

"...I'm gonna put it up on the mantle and it's just cool. So everyone who voted, thank you. I appreciate it," Trubisky said. "It doubles as a kaleidoscope. Nobody knows that, it's pretty sick."

Somehow, Trubisky's NVP vote was only the second most ridiculous award vote that went to a Chicago athlete in recent years.
