UPDATE: Raiders owner Marc Davis told reporters he was the one responsible for the tweet.

Sometimes not saying anything at all is better than saying something.

Following Tuesday’s verdict that Derek Chauvin was guilty on all three charges, including second- and third-degree murder of George Floyd, much of the nation reacted, including the sports world.

Teams across different leagues put out statements, including the NFL, where the Las Vegas Raiders tweeted out a graphic instead of a written statement in an attempt to express their support for the verdict.

Except the Raiders’ effort was cringeworthy and tone deaf, posting the phrase “I Can Breathe” with the date 4-20-21 underneath.

Floyd’s last words were “I can’t breathe” as Chauvin kept his knee on Floyd’s neck for approximately nine minutes.

“I can’t breathe” has also been a rallying cry for Black Lives Matter and protests against police brutality and injustice.

And while the verdict was celebrated, it was still a somber day with much work left to be done.

So, tweeting “I can breathe” was not the best of looks and everyone on social media let them know about it.
