The sports world lost another heralded reporter on Tuesday.
Yahoo! Sports announced on Tuesday afternoon that NFL reporter and 610 Kansas City Sports Radio contributor Terez Paylor passed away at the age of 37.
Ebony Reed, Paylor’s longtime girlfriend and fiancée, released a statement.
“While we are shocked and saddened by Terez Paylor’s sudden passing, we also celebrate his extraordinary life that touched so many,” she said. “Terez was an exceptional journalist whose passion for football made him a respected voice. His legacy will leave an enduring impact on sports journalism, the NFL, the Kansas City Chiefs and their fans. More important, Terez was a devoted son, grandson, brother, an an adoring finace, and a wonderful friend to so many. To know him was to love him. He will be dearly missed.”
Paylor had covered the Chiefs for the Kansas City Star before joining Yahoo! Sports in 2018 and had just covered Super Bowl LV on Sunday.
His death rocks the sports media landscape just two days after longtime ESPN baseball reporter Pedro Gomez suddenly passed away and four days after NFL.com writer Chris Wesseling lost his battle with cancer.
Many colleagues and readers shared their memories of Paylor while digesting the unexpected news, including the Chiefs organization.
