The 2024 ZoZo Championship features some of golf's biggest names as they head to Japan for this highly anticipated PGA event. With a mix of top-tier golfers and rising stars, the competition is stacked. Our BetQL model has been hard at work projecting the best value bets for this weekend, and with players like Xander Schauffele, Max Homa, and Justin Thomas in the field, we’ve identified some standout picks that offer incredible value.
Xander Schauffele To Win (+450, BetMGM)
The model is projecting Schauffele at +195 odds to win the ZoZo Championship this weekend, so getting +450 on BetMGM is some good value right now. This is the first event in a while that has featured some real superstar golfers, outside of the legendary Keith Mitchell, who is in a league of his own. Schauffele is the No. 2 ranked golfer in the world, and he plays like it as well. He ranks second in total strokes gained, 10th in strokes gained off the tee, and seventh in strokes gained on approach. Not only that, but his short game is also ranked 10th in the PGA. In every single advanced metric, he’s a top-10 golfer with nearly no weakness in his game. It isn’t shocking at all to see him as the favorite, as he should be.
Max Homa To Finish Top 5 (+700, BetMGM)
The model is projecting Homa at +106 odds to finish inside the top-5 at the ZoZo Championship, so getting 7/1 odds is some insane value here that was sure to trigger a 5-star play. He’s the 27th ranked golfer in the world right now, but man, he sure didn’t play like it this past season. He was awful in 2024, ranking 120th in total strokes gained. In fact, Homa was one of the worst golfers on tour off the tee, where he ranked 161st in the sport. He struggled with his putting as well, ranking 110th in that category. The only advanced category where Homa finished above average is on his approach, where he was 77th. No matter how you slice it though, he had perhaps his worst year as a professional.
Justin Thomas To Finish Top 10 (+175, BetMGM)
The model is projecting Thomas at -181 odds to finish inside the top-10 at the ZoZo Championship, so getting plus money here is almost an automatic wager at +175. After an awful 2023 season, Thomas managed to bounce-back a bit this year. He’s the 32nd ranked golfer in the world, and finished 45th in total strokes gained in 2024. He was also really good on his approach game, ranking 11th, and was ranked 82nd off the tee. The one area of his game where he continued to struggle was his putting, where he was ranked 167th, one of the worst on tour. With this being a somewhat reduced field, Thomas is an all-around good golfer that is starting to play like we are used to seeing from the veteran.
Rickie Fowler To Finish Top 20 (+150, BetMGM)
The model is projecting Fowler at -180 odds to finish inside the top-20 at the ZoZo Championship, and once again, we are getting plus money on a prop that we have projected at serious juice. He is ranked 73rd in the world right now, but much like Homa, was one of the worst golfers on the PGA tour this past year. After a comeback 2023 season, he struggled immensely in 2024. He ranked 147th in total strokes gained, as well as 136th off the tee and 129th on approach. All of those numbers are in the very bottom of the tour, and even the best part of his game was below average, as his putting ranked 89th. It was a very difficult year for him, but in a reduced field, we just need him to finish inside the top-20.
Ryo Hisatsune To Finish Top 40 (-140, DraftKings)
The model is projecting Hisatsune at -157 odds to finish inside the top-40 at the ZoZo Championship, which isn’t a huge difference from this line of -140 at DraftKings, but the model still loves it. The young Japanese golfer is ranked 88th in the world, but has been climbing the ranks. He was 73rd in total strokes gained as a 22 year old, which is very good. He was even ranked 47th on his approach, so he has some really good aspects of his game at a young age. He did struggle off the tee, where he ranked 91st, and his putting also wasn’t very good, ranking 117th in the PGA. Still, this is an up and coming young player, and we just need him to finish inside the top-40 here at little juice.
