With a packed NBA slate on Friday, February 28, there are plenty of opportunities to find value in the player prop market. Three standout plays emerge based on recent trends, matchups, and advanced stats. Josh Giddey has taken full control of the Bulls’ offense in Nikola Vucevic’s absence, OG Anunoby faces a Grizzlies defense that struggles to contest three-pointers, and Dyson Daniels continues to rack up steals at an elite rate in a matchup that caters to his defensive strengths. Let’s break down why these props are worth considering.
Bulls PG Josh Giddey Over 34.5 Points + Rebounds + Assists vs. Raptors (+110)
Over the last four games, we’ve caught a glimpse of what Josh Giddey’s upside could be if he’s given the chance to run the show. Averaging 24.3 points, 12.0 rebounds (on 16.5 chances) and 8.0 assists (on 15.8 potential dimes) in 34.3 minutes in that span, the young point guard has taken advantage of being the focal point of the offense with Nikola Vucevic out due to an injury. Vuc will be out again in this matchup, which vaults Giddey’s potential multi-category outputs once again. If you don’t think the numbers he’s putting up are insane, consider this: no other player in NBA history has done what he’s done over his last three games.
Knicks PF OG Anunoby Over 2.5 Made Threes vs. Grizzlies (+135)
No team in the NBA has allowed more wide-open (defender 6+ feet away) made threes per game (8.7, 10.0 this month) than the Grizzlies and Anunoby leads the Knicks with 2.9 wide-open three-point attempts per contest this season. He went 2-for-5 from deep in a 143-106 win over the Grizzlies the only time they played this season, but he didn’t see a full allotment of minutes due to the blowout. Memphis has allowed their opponents to shoot 40.9% on corner threes (9th-highest) this month and Anunoby averages 3.0 corner three attempts per game this season.
Hawks SG Dyson Daniels Over 2.5 Steals vs. Thunder (-110)
Averaging 3.1 steals per game on the season, Daniels is putting together a legitimate Defensive Player of the Year campaign and this is sneakily a great spot for him to rack up some steals based on the presumed one-on-one matchup against Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. SGA leads the NBA in drives per game (20.6) and ranks third in passes on drives (7.1) per contest. Daniels leads the NBA in deflections per game (6.1), which ranks two entire deflections over the next-highest mark (4.1, Kelly Oubre Jr.). Daniels is going to have to show up defensively if the Hawks want to keep this game close and he’s arguably the best on-ball defender in the game already with a unique blend of athleticism and wingspan.
