Nick Wright is known for his controversial takes that always seem to draw a stir on social media. The FS1 personality went on his morning show 'First Things First' Monday and made another outrageous take by calling out Jayson Tatum, who despite dropping 54 points in a win over the Nets on Sunday, still doesn't think he should be mentioned amongst the upper echelon of players in the NBA.

Wright's case as to why Tatum is not in the conversation yet for 'superstar status' is largely due to his own personal criteria for superstars, which includes having only 7-9 [12 max] players on his list and when showing off his complete list, Tatum sits outside as the last player on his chart.

As for the way Wright explains his argument, he uses an analogy, comparing Tatum to a guy who can get into a decent club or bar, which most would consider a good time, but is still yearning to be inside the exclusive club where everyone is attractive.

Leave it to Nick Wright to leave us completely perplexed as to what he's talking bout. He calls Ja Morant a superstar because 'he's skyrocketing' but puts him over a guy like Tatum who is easily taking his game to another level as well.

Now if we were to rewind the tape back to when the Celtics defeated the Philadelphia 76ers on the opening night of the NBA season in 2018, Wright said on-air that 'you've got a superstar in Tatum.'

After a bit of skepticism early on, the C's have been proving the doubters wrong and have made an incredible turnaround, thanks in large part to Tatum's contributions on the floor.

Tatum made his first All-Star appearance as a starter and is averaging career highs in both points and rebounds. It's safe to say that the 24-year-old forward is one of the best players in the Eastern Conference and if Nick Wright can't see that, then clearly he's not been paying attention this season.
