It’s been a roller-coaster of a season for Philadelphia Phillies third baseman Alec Bohm and on Saturday those frustrations came into play again.

After striking out with runners in scoring position in the first inning, Bohm returned to the dugout and slammed his bat on the bat rack and bloodied himself in the process.

Bohm was holding the middle of the bat and slammed down the knob end while the barrel of the bat came back and hit him in the chest/neck area.

Cameras showed Bohm with blood on his neck and uniform in the dugout.

While Bohm was bloodied, he remained in the game but did not have any better luck, finishing 0-for-4 with two strikeouts in the 7-2 win over the Angels.

It’s been that kind of year for Bohm, who earlier this year was seen on the field saying he hates Philadelphia after fans booed him for making three errors in a game.

Bohm owned up to it though and won back the respect of fans and even began playing better. He was hitting above .300 up until a few weeks ago when he fell into a slump he has not yet seemed to break.

After Saturday’s performance, Bohm is just hitting .251/.292/.344 with three home runs and 19 RBI this season.
