As of the writing of this story, the New York Giants just lost to the Miami Dolphins in Week 13 NFL action to drop to 4-8 on the season, but we're pretty confident that Lawrence Taylor doesn't know that.
Though he's undoubtedly one of the all-time faces of the franchise and is synonymous with the legendary Big Blue Wrecking Crew, it appears that the Hall of Fame linebacker hasn't stayed up to date with the way things are currently going. Appearing in an interview on TMZ Sports alongside fellow NFL great Ottis Anderson, Taylor seemed to not care too much about the 2021 Giants — to the point where even a casual fan might be more in the know.
"Daniel Jones is... the...?" Taylor said before Anderson finished his sentence, adding that Jones was the quarterback. "You mean to tell me Eli's not the quarterback no more? Get the hell out of here!"
Okay. I can't actually believe that he doesn't know Manning is no longer the quarterback, what with the retirement ceremony, the Manning Cast and other factors. After all, Taylor was interviewed shortly after No. 10 decided to hang 'em up, and the Hall of Famer showed support for Manning's case for Canton.
It's not only Daniel Jones that Taylor was apparently unfamiliar with, as Anderson shared that he confused Joe Judge with "Joe Kidd," a bounty hunter played by Clint Eastwood in the 1972 movie of the same name.
Granted, it might not be a bad thing that Taylor doesn't keep tabs on his team anymore. The Giants, as mentioned, are now 4-8 on the year and have an offense that might struggle to win games even if the prolific defensive unit of years past, headed by Taylor, was behind it.
