Sean Payton will still be around the sport during the 2022 NFL season but not on the sidelines coaching. According to a report from PFT's Mike Florio, the former Saints head coach will be an in-studio analyst on Fox's pre and post-game shows during Jimmy Johnson's off days.
Payton, who has been out of the coaching ranks for all but four months, was also rumored to be heading to Amazon.
Most think Payton's time with Fox will be a short-term venture until a potential head coaching or front office job opens up. A clear indication of this is when the Brian Flores lawsuit revealed that Payton nearly became the coach in Miami, with Tom Brady as his co-partner.
The 58-year-old spent 15 years in New Orleans as the leader of the Saints, helping guide the franchise to nine playoff appearances and a win in Super Bowl XLIV.
Another former Saint, Drew Brees, had an equally massive story break that he is leaving NBC after only one season with the network. However, the future Hall of Famer refuted the report and exclaimed that he may want to make a return to the football field.
