As the Toronto Maple Leafs take on the St. Louis Blues in tonight's NHL action, there are plenty of betting opportunities worth considering. From the Maple Leafs' strong chance to cover the -1.5 puck line at home, to player prop bets on Jordan Kyrou and Brayden Schenn’s shot totals, we’ve got your October 24 picks covered. With the Blues missing key player Robert Thomas, this could be a prime spot for the Leafs to assert their offensive dominance, while Kyrou and Schenn look to fill the offensive void for St. Louis.

Toronto Maple Leafs -1.5 vs. St. Louis Blues (+115)

The Maple Leafs draw a game at home against the Blues tonight, and I think they can really have their way with this team. We all know how disappointing Toronto has been in recent years when it comes to playoff hockey, but they usually are a very good regular season team, and I would expect that again in the 2024 season. They haven’t exactly gotten off to a fast start, sitting at just 4-3 through their first seven games on the ice, but I think they will pick up the pace as we go along.

The Blues should be a team that they can extinguish with relative ease, considering how terrible the St. Louis defense is. They have lost three of their last five games, allowing four goals in two of those three losses. To be honest, they haven’t allowed as many goals as some of their numbers would suggest they should be to this point, which I think is eventually going to show. The Maple Leafs offense is loaded with talent, including Auston Matthews, William Nylander, and Mitch Marner. Nylander has been on an absolute tear, racking up seven points and five goals in their first seven games.

Also of note, one of the Blue’s best players in Robert Thomas will be out for a while with a fractured hand, which leaves them in an even worse spot. I like the Leafs here to get the win, but the ML is juiced over -200. I’ll take a shot they win by 2+.

Jordan Kyrou Over 3.5 SOGs (+142) + Brayden Schenn Over 2.5 SOGs (+142)

Staying in this same game, I think there is an opportunity tonight with some other St. Louis skaters with the absence of Thomas from the lineup. His injury leaves a void for their offense that needs to be filled by someone, and considering they are facing an offensive force like the Leafs, they are going to have to be firing the puck.

Kyrou is the most obvious choice here to be even more aggressive than he has been. He leads the team in points and assists, but I feel like he is going to need to be a more aggressive goal scorer now for his team. This means taking more shots on goal, and you can get +142 right now for him to get four shots on the net. I think that is some really good value for him to shift more focus to scoring in this game.

Schenn isn’t as prominent on the scoresheet, but he actually has as many shots on goal this season as Kyrou. With Thomas out, he’ll see increased ice time, which is going to lead to more chances for him to rip the puck on net. He’s gone over this line in four of their seven games this season, and considering he’ll likely get more TOI now, I love getting this price on him to get three shots.
