Parents of Coyotes first-round pick go viral with PDA at NHL Draft

The NHL Draft held its opening round Thursday night in Montreal with Slovakian forward Juraj Slafkovsky chosen first overall. Another top prospect came off the board at 29 with Arizona drafting Maveric Lamoureux, a 6’7” defenseman who spent last year playing junior hockey with the Drummondsville Voltigeurs. Lamoureux’s parents were in the audience, beaming with pride as the 18-year-old Ontario native made his way to the podium, donning a Coyotes sweater for the first time.

Caught up in the emotion of their son accomplishing his childhood dream of becoming an NHL first-round pick, Isabelle and Patrick Lamoureux met lips with a passionate kiss, with ESPN’s cameras capturing the steamy moment for all to see.

Predictably, the couple’s lustful display was widely circulated on social media, with wisecracks galore from the Twitter peanut gallery, imploring the Lamoureuxs to get a room.

Lamoureux probably didn’t expect to see his parents making out (tongue was a bold choice) on his big night, though maybe he should have given his last name, which literally translates to “the loving one” in English. The draft will conclude Friday with Rounds 2-7.
