Mac Jones, publicly, at least, has no qualms with Bill O’Brien.

The offensive coordinator returned to New England to, among other things, get the Patriots quarterback back on track after his disastrous 2022 campaign. That so far hasn’t worked, and things clearly reached a boiling point Sunday in Germany.

During the third quarter of the loss to the Colts, cameras caught Jones holding a tablet as O’Brien emphatically pointed to the screen while clearly shredding the third-year pro. A quarter later, after Jones and the offense failed to get back on track, the Patriots made the ill-fated decision to have Bailey Zappe run the two-minute drill with the game on the line.

Jones denied that there are any issues between he and O’Brien when asked about their relationship Tuesday on “Jones & Mego.”

“It’s good,” Jones said. “I’ve always had coaches that expect a lot of their players and I love that. There’s a good relationship there, I have no issues with him.”

Jones and O’Brien both have failed to meet expectations during this unmitigated disaster of a campaign – though some of that falls on Bill Belichick for his inability to surround the offense with quality players.

Nevertheless, the Jones/O’Brien duo has been underwhelming thus far, and Jones doesn’t yet know if he’ll continue working with the OC as the starter or backup quarterback when the Pats return from the bye.
