The feel-good family comedy looks at Payton's life during the 2012 season, when he temporarily became an assistant coach on his son's middle-school football team after he was suspended by the league for his role in the scandal.

In the flick, slated for release in late January, Payton's character is portrayed by "King of Queens" actor Kevin James, while Payton's son's coach is played by Taylor Lautner, who starred in the "Twilight" series.

The story follows Payton as he helps turn the rag-tag team into a winner, all while gaining some much-needed perspective on life and football during his time away from the professional ranks.

The movie was produced by Happy Madison Productions, owned by frequent James collaborator and noted sports fan Adam Sandler.

Payton returned from his one-year absence in 2013, and led the Saints to an 11-5 record that year. This season marks his ninth since the suspension.

Several other top-ranking Saints officials were suspended over the scandal, including general manager Mickey Loomis, defensive coordinator Gregg Williams, assistant head coach Joe Vitt, and linebacker Jonathan Vilma.

The trailer comes several months after the first photographs from the set of the movie surfaced online. The pics turned heads online, with the relatively huskier James not looking very much like Payton at all, particularly what appeared to be a chrome-domed look as he milled about a filming lot in Saints gear. However, the movie seems to have gotten Payton's look right, with James rocking Payton's trademark spiky coif under a Saints visor.
