The model is giving Young fair odds of +402 to win the World Wide Tech Championship, so getting 20/1 at BetMGM is clearly going to trigger a 5-star play. Young was 77th in total strokes gained this past year, which is right around average. He was great off the tee, where he ranked 25th, and was again average in his approach at 86th. He struggled with his putting, ranking 140th there, but that has been the trend with a lot of the top golfers. Even Scottie Scheffler, who is the world No. 1, struggles most with his putting over any other part of his game by far. The 27 year old American is just now entering his prime, and the model likes the value a lot here for him to get the win in a wide open field.
Keith Mitchell To Finish Top 5 (+650) - 4-Star
The model is projecting Mitchell’s fair odds to be +217 to finish inside the top 5 of the World Wide Tech Championship, which makes his +650 price at BetMGM quite valuable right now. If you have been following along in these articles, you know Mitchell is one of my favorite golfers on tour this past season. He doesn’t get the publicity that a lot of the big name golfers do, but he was excellent all year. He was 19th in total strokes gained on tour, which is right up there with some of the best to play the sport. He was 6th off the tee, and 11th on approach, which are some incredibly good numbers. His putting is what has dragged him down, where he was pretty terrible at 151st. However, overall, he has been fantastic and I love this price for him to finish inside the top 5 or even win.
Daniel Berger To Finish Top 10 (+400) - 4-Star
The model is projecting Berger’s fair odds to be +180 to finish in the top 10 of the World Wide Tech Championship, which makes his 4/1 odds at BetMGM a great value. Berger had a mixed bag of results this season, and much like Young, was pretty average this season. He was 89th in total strokes gained, and to be fair to him, that is actually far better than his 238th ranking on the OWGR. He was actually pretty good off the tee, ranking 26th in that category, and ranking 66th in his approach to the green. Once again, putting was the biggest issue, where he was one of the worst in the field. He ranked 163rd there, and needs to improve a lot. In a field as wide open as this, we just need him to finish inside the top-10.
Taylor Montgomery To Finish Top 20 (+700) - 5-Star
The model is projecting fair odds for Montgomery to finish inside the top 20 at -110 in the World Wide Tech Championship, so getting 7/1 on him to do so at BetMGM is some crazy value. He has pretty much been the opposite from the last three golfers we talked about. He was 163rd in total strokes gained, which was terrible, and he had a bad season. He was 177th off the tee and 164th on his approach, but amazingly, he was the best putter on tour. He ranked No. 1 in putting across all golfers this past season, so if you need to sink one of those, he is your guy. Perhaps his specialty there will help him out here in this one, and we just need him to finish inside the top 20.
Adam Schenk To Finish Top 40 (+140) - 5-Star
The model is projecting fair odds of -129 for Schenk to finish inside the top 40 of the World Wide Tech Championship, and we are getting plus money here for him to do so, which triggers a 5-star rating for this one. He had a pretty poor season overall this past year, ranking 151st in total strokes gained. The only category where he was above average was off the tee, where he was 54th. He was 167th on his approach, and 90th in putting, neither of which being that impressive. You might have never even heard of this guy, as you probably haven’t for a lot of guys participating in this tournament, but we just need a top 40 finish.
