Though I had my initial doubts, I am among the many that thought MLB's execution of their "Field of Dreams" game in the cornfields of Dyersville, Iowa was a success. The goosebumps-inducing player introduction, the late-game drama, the technical production effects that gave the game as rural a feel as possible — so much of it worked, and the fact that it was a great game certainly helped.

With big-time ticket prices and a bevy of reasons to tune in, the game was most likely a sizable success from MLB's perspective as well. The fans were happy, the league was probably happy, the players and coaches seemed happy... why don't we run it back? And there only seemed to be one movie in the mind of those in the MLB Twitter universe that fit the bill as the perfect successor.

We got a little bit of a reality check from Dan Marrazza, however, who showed us that the field in the Glendale neighborhood of Salt Lake City wasn't in the best shape.

I doubt Mr. Marrazza's nickname is "Smalls," but in this case — you're killing me, Smalls! Based on that video, however, he definitely has a point. Luckily, "The Sandlot" wasn't the only fictional field getting some recognition. In Patrick Finley's list before, "Bull Durham," "The Natural," and "Rookie of the Year" were all mentioned. Other Twitter users brought up some of the great fields in cult classic video game "Backyard Baseball," and there was even a mention that I saw for a somewhat obscure baseball diamond: Gerald Field from "Hey Arnold!"
