Wander Franco has topped Mickey Mantle.
The Rays rookie shortstop extended his on-base streak to 37 games on Tuesday night at Fenway Park with a seventh-inning walk to surpass Mantle for the longest on-base streak in American League history by a player 20 years old or younger.
Franco now turns his eyes to the MLB record, which is a 43-game streak held by another Hall of Famer in Frank Robinson, who did it from May 26-July 7, 1956.

The 20-year-old’s streak appeared in jeopardy after starting the game 0-for-3 but managed to work a walk against Red Sox right-hander Brad Peacock.
Per the Elias Sports Bureau, no rookie shortstop has reached base safely in 37 consecutive games since 1958, which was the first season with official rookie eligibility rules.
