With Baker Mayfield's future still in limbo with the Browns, the quarterback seems to be in good spirits per his wife Emily.
During a Q&A on Instagram Friday, Emily Mayfield answered some questions from her followers. When one fan asked, “How’s Baker?” Emily responded saying, “About 48393829303 of you asked this. He’s great! Been training a ton and playing plenty of golf in his free time.”
Another fan asked Emily how she has handled the constant rumors and disrespect towards her husband from the media. She claims she honestly doesn't pay attention to what the "sources" say about her husband and claims those who report those rumors "usually don't know" what's going on most of the time.
There was one fan trying to put his reporter hat on, trying to get the inside scoop from Emily about what team she would like Baker to play for next. Instead of giving a straight yes or no answer, Emily responded with just two emojis, expressing that her mouth is sealed. However, she did share how it can be difficult being married to a professional athlete.
Mayfield’s tenure in Cleveland has been a roller coaster ride of ups and downs. After a few solid seasons in 2018 and 2020, Mayfield's 2021 campaign saw him pass for only 17 touchdowns compared to 13 interceptions while dealing with injuries throughout the entirety of the season.
While Mayfield is on the outs in Cleveland, he did lead the Browns to a playoff birth and win in 2021 — the franchises first playoff birth since 2002.
The former No. 1 pick has been away from the team since March, the month the Browns acquired former Texans QB Deshaun Watson despite numerous sexual assault accusations. As OTAs have begun, Mayfield is still not in attendance but the QB is reportedly expected to attend training camp in July.
