The Cardinals and quarterback Kyler Murray appeared to recently make amends after their post-season rift, but a new report indicates the relationship is still in an awkward place.

According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, rival teams are sensing the apparent ongoing disconnect between the club and its franchise quarterback.

"Other teams are watching," Pelissero said, adding that it's "a situation to monitor."

At issue is seems to be Murray's contract. The sides aren't even talking, Pelissero reported, and Murray's camp has apparently withdrawn a previous offer. Several top quarterbacks around the league have negotiated lucrative deals this offseason, and Murray, now entering his fourth year, is eligible for an extension.

Murray is due to be paid $5.5 million for the 2022 season, a relatively paltry figure given the going rate and Murray's performance.

According to Pelissero, something has to give in the apparent stalemate soon, because "it'd be a surprise" if Murray ends up playing on his current deal.

That would likely mean an extension, or Murray gets traded.

Murray and the Cardinals seemed to patch things up when he restored Cardinals imagery to his social media profiles. But apparently it hasn't changed the fundamentals of the situation.
