Cleveland Browns edge rusher Jadeveon Clowney will pay a hefty price for tossing Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Chase Claypool's shoe in a loss on Monday Night Football in Week 17.
NFL Media's Tom Pelissero reports that the 28-year-old was fined $12,785 for throwing the shoe, in addition to the unsportsmanlike conduct penalty he received:
The Browns lost 26-14 to the Steelers in Week 17, dropping their record to 7-9. Even if the Browns defeat the Cincinnati Bengals Sunday, they'll finish the 2021 season with a losing record.
To his credit, Clowney's seven sacks in 2021 are the most that he has posted since 2018, his final season with the Houston Texans. The former No. 1 overall pick has 39 career sacks. He'll become a free agent this offseason.
