As arguably the best quarterback in the NFL, Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes is perhaps the standard to which others at his position are held.

And while Mahomes is no slouch in terms of scrambling and his ability to extend broken plays, typically it's his overall uncanny arm skills that everyone drools over.

But on Thursday night at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, it was the quarterbacks' turn to test their skills, including in the vaunted 40-yard dash. That's where former Cincinnati Bearcats star QB Desmond Ridder reeled off a blazing unofficial time of 4.49 seconds.

Ridder's eye-popping sprint was impressive by just about any measure, and to help contextualize it, the good folks at NFL Network overlaid Ridder's test run with those of noted fellow fleet-footed signal-callers of yesteryear Marcus Mariota and Russell Wilson -- and, strangely, Mahomes.

The 2018 NFL MVP happened to notice the bizarre comparison after he was tagged in the tweet, and he fired off a funny response.

"Y'all didn't have to put me in that group getting left like that," Mahomes said, with a series of tears of joy emojis.

While raw speed may or may not be indicative of future success at the quarterback position in the NFL, Ridder was surely pleased to be compared favorably to a couple of professional standouts.

And Mahomes can rest assured that this competition is one of the few in which he'd come in last place.
