It looks like an interesting morning in Foxboro. While the news that the Patriots are reportedly hosting Malcolm Butler for a tryout will surely capture the most interest, there is another player of note at Gillette Stadium on Monday.

According to ESPN's Field Yates, the Patriots are also hosting running back Leonard Fournette for a visit. Fournette, 27, spent the last two seasons with Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he earned the nickname "Playoff Lenny" and then "Lombardi Lenny" while helping the team win a Super Bowl.

Fournette had 812 rushing yards, 69 receptions for 454 yards, and 10 total touchdowns in 14 games last season. It was the third time in his five-year career that he has topped 1,200 yards from scrimmage.

Fournette scored a touchdown in all four playoff games during the Bucs' 2020 Super Bowl run. He had 133 yards from scrimmage in their Super Bowl LV victory over the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Patriots' interest in Fournette is especially interesting given that running back does not appear to be a position of need. They already have Damien Harris, Rhamondre Stevenson and James White, although you could certainly argue that Fournette would be more well-rounded than any of them given his combined rushing and receiving abilities.

As we all know, you can never rule out Bill Belichick trading someone away either. Harris, who is set to hit free agency after this season, could be a candidate on that front if the Patriots were to sign Fournette.
