DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - For the second consecutive season, the Cowboys' opener was marred by a controversial decision by an official.

With the Cowboys leading 29-28 with 24 seconds left in the 4th quarter, Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady connected with receiver Chris Godwin on a 24-yard completion on 2nd & 10 to put Tampa Bay in field goal range on the Cowboys' 18-yard line.

Replays appeared to show Godwin extend his arm to create separation from Cowboys cornerback Jourdan Lewis prior to making the catch with just 18 seconds let in the game.

Tampa Bay would go on to win the game a few downs later on a Ryan Succop 36-yard field goal.

The play was eerily similar to the way the Cowboys 2020 season began when receiver Michael Gallup was flagged for an offensive pass interference penalty in their Week 1 loss to the Los Angeles Rams.

Gallup and Rams corner Jalen Ramsey appeared to be jostling for the ball on the 47-yard catch deep into Rams territory, but the official ruled that Gallup used his arm to push off.

Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy was furious over the call after that game, we'll see how he reacts to the latest one postgame.
