Teddy Bridgewater has found a new home.

The veteran quarterback will reportedly sign a one-year deal with the Miami Dolphins where he will be the backup to Tua Tagovailoa, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Bridgewater has had a starting role the last two seasons — in Carolina and most recently Denver — and it is unclear if he will be given a chance to compete with Tagovailoa as starter in training camp.

Last season, Bridgewater threw for 3,052 yards and 18 touchdowns too seven interceptions over 14 games with the Broncos, going 7-7 as the starter.

Those stats are actually better than Tagovailoa’s 2021 campaign, in which the 2020 fifth overall pick threw for 16 touchdowns and 2,653 yards with 10 interceptions over 13 games, 12 as a starter, going 7-5 in that span.

Of course, the 24-year-old Tagovailoa’s ceiling is higher than the 29-year-old Bridgewater.

If Bridgewater is indeed the backup, he will be good insurance for the Dolphins to have in the event Tagovailoa goes down with an injury.
