The second game of this Monday Night Football doubleheader features the Cincinnati Bengals hosting the Washington Commanders at 8:15 PM ET on ABC. The Bengals are 7.5-point favorites with an over/under set at 47, and Joe Burrow looks to snap a rare losing streak. With star receivers Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins back in the lineup, Burrow’s over 1.5 passing touchdowns prop stands out in a matchup against the league’s worst pass defense. Additionally, Bengals running back Chase Brown is poised for more carries, making his over 24.5 rushing yards a valuable pick. On the Commanders side, Terry McLaurin is in a prime position to exceed 46.5 receiving yards, as Washington looks to get him more involved in the offense.
Bengals QB Joe Burrow Over 1.5 Passing TD’s vs. Commanders (-136, BetRivers)
Burrow might be on the longest losing streak of his entire football playing career regardless of level (four), but will get star WR Tee Higgins back alongside Ja’Marr Chase for this matchup against the worst pass defense in the NFL. The Commanders have allowed six passing touchdowns in two games, most in the league, setting up Burrow for the potential for a huge game. He threw two TD passes last week against the Chiefs and should be playing with a chip on his shoulder after the 0-2 start, especially since both of those games were decided by single possessions. I expect him to go off in this matchup.
Bengals RB Chase Brown Over 24.5 Rushing Yards vs. Commanders (-110, DraftKings)
Last week against the Chiefs, Brown took four carries for 31 yards while starter Zack Moss took 12 carries for 34 yards. I thought Brown had a chance to win the RB1 job coming out of the preseason, but I expect a more even workload moving forward, especially given Bengals OC Dan Pitcher’s recent comments (per ESPN’s Ben Baby) about Moss’ 80% snap share compared to Brown’s 20% snap share being a “product of a small sample size” and “unintentional”. The presence of Higgins is going to open up running lanes and I expect more production for both Brown and Moss moving forward.
Commanders WR Terry McLaurin Over 46.5 Receiving Yards vs. Bengals (-115, BetMGM)
Per JP Finlay of NBC Sports, Commanders OC Kliff Kingsbury admitted that he needs to get McLaurin more involved in the offense moving forward. In Week 1 against the Buccaneers, McLaurin caught two or four targets for 17 yards and in Week 2 versus the Giants, he reeled in six of eight targets for just 22 yards. The targets were there, but the big-play potential wasn’t. Jayden Daniels even publicly stated that he has to give McLaurin more opportunities to catch the football, specifically in one-on-one situations. In Week 1, he beat his defender on a go route and was overthrown and was also open on another big play in Week 2, so I want to absolutely buy low on one of the most talented wideouts in the NFL in this spot.
