Thursday Night Football features a classic AFC East rivalry as the New England Patriots (1-1) visit the New York Jets (1-1) in Week 3. Both teams are looking to bounce back and establish momentum for the season, and I’ve highlighted the top player prop bets to consider. Whether it's targeting wide receivers against a shaky defense or running backs who will get plenty of work, here are the best props for Thursday night’s game, starting with my favorite options.
Jets WR Garrett Wilson Over 5.5 Receptions (-110)
Garrett Wilson has been a focal point of the Jets’ passing attack, and his involvement should only increase in this matchup. The Patriots have allowed an average of 19.0 receptions per game to wide receivers, tied for the most in the NFL. With 100% route participation and commanding 29% of the Jets' targets, Wilson is in prime position to break out.
Despite his modest numbers through the first two games (6 receptions on 11 targets for 60 yards in Week 1, and 4 receptions on 6 targets for 57 yards in Week 2), Wilson's target share and air yards (45%) suggest he’s due for a breakout. The Patriots won’t assign star cornerback Christian Gonzalez to shadow him on every play, allowing Wilson to be deployed in various formations and heavily targeted away from Gonzalez's coverage.
Patriots RB Rhamondre Stevenson Over 65.5 Rushing Yards (-110)
Rhamondre Stevenson has been a workhorse for the Patriots through the first two weeks, and he should continue to thrive on the ground against the Jets. New York’s defense has allowed opposing running backs to average 114.5 rushing yards per game, 10th-most in the NFL. Stevenson has been productive in both of the Patriots’ games, rushing 25 times for 120 yards and a touchdown in Week 1, and following that up with 21 carries for 81 yards and another score in Week 2.
With the Jets' rush defense showing vulnerability, Stevenson should surpass 65.5 rushing yards comfortably, especially given his heavy workload under new HC Jerod Mayo.
Jets RB Breece Hall Under 66.5 Rushing Yards (-115)
Breece Hall has shown flashes of potential, but Thursday’s game might not be his time to shine as a ball-carrier. The Patriots’ defense has allowed just 46.5 rushing yards per game to opposing running backs, the third-lowest mark in the league. Hall’s production has been modest, with 16 carries for 54 yards and a touchdown in Week 1, and 14 carries for 62 yards in Week 2.
On a short week, the Jets may opt to rotate their backfield more, potentially giving Braelon Allen additional carries and reducing Hall's opportunities. Given the Patriots’ strong run defense, it’s likely Hall won’t reach the 66.5 rushing yard mark.
Patriots QB Jacoby Brissett Under 168.5 Passing Yards (-110)
Jacoby Brissett has struggled to move the ball through the air consistently for the Patriots. He completed 15 of 24 passes for 121 yards in Week 1, followed by a 149-yard performance in Week 2 on 15-of-27 passing. With a meager average depth of target (5.9 yards), Brissett isn’t pushing the ball downfield, limiting his passing yard potential.
Against a disciplined Jets defense, which should excel at limiting passing yardage, Brissett will likely continue to struggle through the air. Expect him to fall short of the 168.5-yard mark once again, especially since New England doesn’t have a reliable target other than tight end Hunter Henry.
These player props for Thursday Night Football offer solid betting opportunities. Wilson is poised for a breakout performance, Stevenson should dominate on the ground, and Hall and Brissett are likely to underperform based on matchup trends.
