There are eight teams remaining in the 2024 MLS Cup Playoffs and the conference semifinals are set to begin on Nov. 23. The once-favored Inter Miami is off the board following a loss the Atlanta United and soccer bettors are sure to scramble to find a new team worth putting money on. Atlanta United isn’t getting much love despite ending the championship dreams of Lionel Mess and company, but other teams have surged toward the top after some significant odds movement.
Los Angeles FC opened at +800 and BetMGM but is now the favorite to win it all at +165. The LA Galaxy aren’t far behind at +300 and saw even more impressive line movement from +2500. Orlando City (+500), New York City FC (+700), and the New York Red Bulls (+800) round out the top five. The Red Bulls opened the year at +2500 while Orlando City and New York City FC opened at +3300.
Inter Miami led all teams in ticket percentage (23.8%) and handle percentage (27.3%) on MLS championship wagers early. The only team remaining that was among the public’s top three in either category was Los Angeles FC, which commanded the second-highest opening handle percentage at 17.9%.
Columbus Crew opened the year with the second-highest ticket percentage (17.9%) and third-highest handle percentage (15.3%) after winning the MLS Cup Finals in 2023, but failed to reach the final stage. Los Angeles FC has a chance to win its second championship in three years.
