It was no coincidence that Hall of Famers and previous three-point record-holders Reggie Miller and Ray Allen were in attendance when Warriors star Stephen Curry set the new mark with career three-pointer No. 2,974. Allen planned to be in the building all along, and it was fitting that Miller got the broadcast assignment for Curry's memorable moment at one of the greatest arenas in sports.

But the real link between those three players and their record-setting nights? That might not have been as obvious.

However, thanks to journalist Jay Scott Smith of Audacy Philadelphia affiliate KYW, we know of an incredible nugget that really ties the whole thing together.

According to Smith's recollection, Kerr was there when Miller passed Dale Ellis on the all-time leaderboard during the 1997-98 season, meaning the record must have been broken in one of the Bulls-Pacers clashes that year. Kerr was there again in 2011, calling the game for TNT when Allen broke Miller's record on February 10, 2011.

And it goes without saying that Kerr was there for the last of these three record-breaking moments, serving as the Warriors head coach and watching over the moment with pride.

"The moment was spectacular," Kerr said. "...The aftermath was more emotional than I expected it to be. Beautiful moment."

Of course, Miller was also there for all three of the record-breaking long-range moments... but that's not as interesting, now is it?
