As a star player everywhere he’s been, Trae Young is used to being at the center of jeers from an opposing fanbase.
So, New York Knicks fans’ disdain for him was far from unfamiliar.

Young became a villain last year as he and the Atlanta Hawks carved up the Knicks in five games in New York’s first playoff series in eight years.
And it was during that series that the chant ‘F— Trae Young” became a popular refrain at Madison Garden, and to this day it’s not uncommon for that to break out pretty much anywhere in New York.
But asked by JJ Redick on his “Old Man and the Three” podcast if he enjoys it, Young admitted he did.
“That was a fun series,” Young said. “I just knew the stage and it being their first time back in the playoffs in I don’t know how long. It was loud, it was crazy. I give them a lot of credit, it was the craziest environment I’ve probably ever played in.”
Some guys are wired to thrive when everyone hates them, and Young clearly is one of those people.
So, maybe then the best thing for Knick fans to do is just leave him alone.
“I think the Heat didn’t say nothing at all, in Miami I think they just kept it business," Young said. "I think there’s certain guys that you shouldn’t talk to, just leave it alone. I feel like I’m one of those guys in that category.”
