According to figures released by the team, nearly 15,000 Washington Capitals fans packed into Capital One Arena on Wednesday night to watch a game being played more than 2,000 miles away.
The arena only holds 18,506 hockey fans, meaning that it is 78 percent full. The narrative that watching the game is better at home if the Caps can get fans to come watch a TV at the stadium.

— Washington Capitals (@Capitals) May 31, 2018This also sheds a little light on the business boom that is coming to Washington, D.C., in time for Games 3 and 4. How big of an impact might be hard to predict, but last year Nashville tallied an economic impact of more than $50 million.
Big numbers are on the way for D.C. The only number that fans should care about, however, is four: the number of wins between the Caps and the cup.
