You can't go to a professional sporting event in Washington, D.C., without running into at least one fan wearing a jersey from an awful player.
For the Washington Nationals, maybe it's a Scott Olsen or Elijah Dukes jersey. For the Washington Capitals, it might be an Alexandre Volchkov or Martin Erat sweater. For the Washington Redskins, it might be Robert Griffin III or Albert Haynesworth jersey. For the Washington Wizards, it might be a Michael Jordan or Jan Vesely jersey.
No matter who it is, you have to wonder if the person is wearing the jersey ironically or ignorantly? With pride or shame?
Credit the CFL's Hamilton Tiger-Cats for coming up a new way to help the healing process. The team, which owned the Canadian Football League's rights to former NFL quarterback Johnny Manziel, signed the former Heisman Trophy winner earlier this year. After he sat out the first six games of the CFL season, he was shipped to Montreal on Saturday as part of a larger, blockbuster deal.
In order to thank fans who had already invested--albeit foolishly--in the quarterback's jersey, the Tiger-Cats are offering to help replace it:
