It took until Week 14, but Washington Redskins tight end Jordan Reed may have finally been bitten by the injury bug.

In the first half of Sunday's game against the New York Giants, Reed was blocking and got his ankle rolled over by a Giants defender on the ground:

In obvious pain, Reed limped off the field and was subsequently helped into the locker room by the team's medical staff. At the time, he was listed as questionable to return, but later downgraded to out.

Injuries have plagued Reed throughout his career, as he was injured when the team drafted him in 2013. Since then, he has never played a full 16-game slate, with a high-water mark of 14 in 2015. While he has not been a great red zone target, Reed has still provided the Redskins carousel of quarterbacks with an outlet option this season.

Counting the last two seasons together, injuries are a disturbing trend for this Redskins team. After leading the NFL in injuries last year, they are being hit hard at key positions this year, particularly on offense. Grant Paulsen offered an incomplete list of the team's top injuries:

With Jordan Reed out (foot injury) for the rest of the game, the #Redskins offense will now be without:-Top 2 QB's-Starting RB-No. 1 WR-Slot WR-No. 1 TE-Pro bowl RG-Pro bowl RG's backup-Starting left guard-Left guard's backup

Fortunately, the Redskins have the most depth at tight end, as Vernon Davis provides new quarterback Josh Johnson with a reliable security blanket.

After the game, Jay Gruden told reporters Reed has a sprained toe/foot. It's unclear as of now if he'll have to miss any more time beyond Sunday's loss to the Giants.

Gruden to the podium. Reed had a toe/foot sprain. Shoulder sprain for Shaun Dion Hamilton.
