Capitals forward Andre Burakovsky has been traded to Colorado, Caps General Manager Brian MacLellan announced on Friday.

The Caps receive two draft picks – a second- and a third-rounder – in the 2020 NHL Draft, along with pending unrestricted free agent forward Scott Kosmachuk.

Burakovsky, 24, registered 25 points on 12 goals and 13 assists in 76 games for the Capitals last season. He was drafted 23rd overall by the Capitals in 2013.

Avs GM Sakic: "We are excited to be adding a big, fast, skilled winger like Andre. He already has a lot of NHL experience at a young age. At just 24 he is entering the prime years of his career and we feel with an added role, he will be a great addition to our team."

The Capitals will have $9.2 million in salary cap space afer the trade, according to CapFriendly.com. That money could go toward resigning any of their restricted free agents – Jakub Vrana, Christian Djoos and Chandler Stephenson – or Brett Connolly, who's an unrestricted free agent.
