The Capitals had a golden opportunity to take a commanding lead midway through the second period of Game 7 against the Hurricanes on Wednesday.

Until Braden Holtby fell asleep at the wheel, allowing a short-handed goal on a Washington power play. Center Sebastian Aho made the heady play, bringing Carolina within one goal of the Caps.

But Carolina wasn't done. Teuvo Teravainen slipped this biscuit in the basket to pull the Canes back within one heading into second intermission.

It's a 3-2 hockey game, with one period remaining. Strap in, folks. #Game7 #StanleyCup---- Watch: https://t.co/oCNiC8KLYT @NBCSN---- Watch: https://t.co/Ru1tdgCszT @Sportsnet pic.twitter.com/HKAux1Prbu
