The New York Giants put themselves in a position to win the NFC East on Sunday, but regardless if they advance to the playoffs or not, the future of Dave Gettleman is still in question.
The Giants general manager , who is responsible for drafting Saquon Barkley and Daniel Jones, has not built a team that has had a winning season in his three years since taking the position from Jerry Reese following a 3-13 season.
Instead, the Giants have gone 15-23 under Gettleman, so it is legitimate to ask whether or not the Giants should move on from the 69-year-old as general manager.
According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, there is belief among NFL executives that Gettleman could either retire or assume a different role within the Giants organization in the coming days.
Per La Canfora, this could open the door for the Giants to pursue longtime Patriots executive Nick Caserio, which has been previously reported as a potential replacement.
Caserio has close ties to Giants head coach Joe Judge, a former Patriots assistant, which is why his name continues to come up.
What new role Gettleman could possibly take is uncertain. But whatever happens next for the Giants, all eyes will be on Gettleman’s future within the organization.
