The Sports Junkies don’t just talk sports, they coach them too – and Tuesday night is a big night for Briar Woods High School softball, as the undefeated Falcons led by assistant coach Jason Bishop are set to take on Woodgrove High School, the No. 2 team in the state, at 6:30 p.m.
And Lurch was already getting nervous this morning.
“I’m getting anxious before our game tonight. Woodgrove High School are legit and I’m starting to get anxious,” Bish said. “I’ve been texting my boy who is the head coach about lineup changes and things.”
Bish revealed some strategy and vague notions on those lineup changes, so hopefully Woodgrove’s head coach wasn’t listening to the show…just like Bish wasn’t watching game film!
“I’ve watched zero film, but our other assistant coach has,” Bish said. “We’re gonna flip-flop a couple girls in the lineup, and it’s a big one. If you think I’m usually grumpy in the morning, wait to see what it looks like tomorrow if we lose – but if we win, I might come in with some cocktails.”
The Falcons are in the Top 20 in the state, too, so this isn’t a true underdog story. We’d advise all you donks to head out to the game tonight…but Bish has already asked to stay away!
Too bad, because apparently, you come for the game, and stay for the concert?
“During games, our girls in the dugout will sometimes start singing songs to each other,” Bish said. “They’ll start singing and then once in a while encourage the team and then go back to songs…it kind of gets me bitter sometimes, I had to tell them yesterday to pay attention to the game!”
Cracking the whip just like a good assistant coach! Tune in to the Junkies on Wednesday to see what kind of mood Bish is in.
