One of the perks of being a huge radio star is usually getting some free stuff that you may want or need as a courtesy to your stardom…except in EB's case, if that free stuff is a ride to the airport?
See, Eric Bickel was headed to Dulles Airport today and will be back tomorrow night, and his plans for transportation were to leave his car at the station, Uber from DC to Dulles today and then home Wednesday night, and have Cakes pick him up for work Thursday.
Listener John, however, had a better idea, perhaps: he offered to let EB park at his business a few minutes away from Dulles Airport so he didn't have to pay for parking or an Uber, and he would gladly shuttle Eric to and from the airport on either end of the trip.
"That's a hook-up right there!" Bish said, and John offered to give Drab his number if any of the Junkies ever want to use his service, but EB isn't feeling it.
"So you're going to Uber all the way airport and back and then have Cakes pick you up?" Bish asked.
"I'm paying him $20!" EB shot back.
"Well you can park for free here!" was Bish's response, but then EB revealed his entire plan, which is already laid out…even with the offer of "a random donk."
"I can see Cakes will have him over, maybe play Wordle with him…that's not me!" EB said. "I'm not getting in anyone's car. That sounds creepy to me! He's very nice, but he's a complete stranger."
Sometimes that pays off, as JP noted that Bish "started talking to a random stranger, and next thing you know, he's going to Pebble Beach every year on a private jet!"
"I have a stranger, a guy who works security at Reagan National, and every once in a blue moon, and he takes me right through," EB said. "That's no big deal now, but I like that! But I'm not meeting a stranger in a parking lot! And no disrespect to John, but that sounds like a huge pain in the ass to drive to his business, wait for him to drive me to Dulles, then call the guy and have him pick me back up?"
The Junkies then brought John back from hold to explain what his business was (it's a printing company), and try to convince EB:
"We do it for people all the time, every other week or so we have someone stop here and drop their car off," John said. "It takes like less than six minutes to get there, no time for small talk! I'm just a long-time listener trying to pay back all the good times you guys have given me!"
EB did say he might hit John up for some freebies or discounts on posters for his buddy, so maybe not all is lost…but then again, perhaps this Tweet sums up what John would get from the Eric Bickel Experience if he was his airport driver?
I once gave @EBJunkies ride home from bar, 2 hours out of my way total, expecting a little romservation…he slept entire way and at his house his gratitude was offered by this kind romment after awaking from his slumber, 'kinda weird u know where i live' and with that he was gone

Too bad we'll never know if John is just a nice listener or a serial killer…at least until one of the other Junkies needs a ride to Dulles (and doesn't just ask Bish, who lives right there).
