Max Scherzer was ejected from Wednesday’s start against the Dodgers following a substance check by the umpiring crew.
Scherzer was tossed in the fourth inning after umpire Phil Cuzzi told the Mets ace to change his glove following a routine check, but after a more thorough examination of his hands, Scherzer was tossed, and the veteran was irate on his way back to the dugout.
Scherzer could be heard yelling, ‘It’s just rosin,’ but the umpires clearly didn’t agree.
Clearly, there was something on Scherzer’s fingers that the umpires felt was excessive or illegal, and his day was done. His glove was checked in the third inning, changed the glove, but was later ejected anyway.
