The Junkies can't believe Anthony Rendon went off again about baseball not being a priority

If you remember a few weeks ago, Eric Bickel said that he ‘hates’ Anthony Rendon, given Rendon’s comments about his desire to play baseball (or not).

Well, it’s too bad EB was off Tuesday enjoying college sports, because Rendon further went off on that subject Monday – and after the rest of the Junks played a clip of him talking as he reported to Angels camp, yeah, they’re all done with Rendon.

“Surly as ever…that guy, he always seemed to have a good reputation, I thought, as an affable, friendly guy while he was here in Washington, but man, that script has been flipped,” Cakes said.

“He would never say anything like that here, because he was at a different point in his career,” Bish replied. “Kevin Millar said this a couple of years ago on MLB Network, that the majority of MLB players play for the paycheck; obviously all want to win, but he said the majority of them just play for the paycheck because the paycheck’s so good. The problem with Rendon is you can't say that. Obviously family is gonna be more important than your job, you just can't come out and say it's not a top priority.”

Bish and JP agreed that if you’re producing, maybe, but Rendon’s career has gone in the tank since he left DC.

“He's cursed because he signed a monster contract and he's had very little production since he signed the monster contract,” JP said. “So to say that, a lot of people are gonna be upset. That said, I think family should be the top priority for every player in MLB, and they probably all believe that when it's all said and done, but it just makes it sound like you don't care.”

“If you’re always hurt and missing 100 games and you say that, well, the media is gonna kill you, the fans are gonna kill you,” Bish replied.
“If you're producing and you're going to the playoffs and you're helping the team win, it’s not as bad, but you just can't say that, because you know it's not gonna look good for someone who's never on the field.”

Cakes' biggest takeaway on Rendon?

“Personally, I'm surprised that his Twitter profile still has him in a Nats uniform, and he hasn't posted since 2017,” Johnny said. “To me, that is the least shocking thing I’m gonna learn about Anthony Rendon today. He's not keeping up with social media, doesn't seem like a very social type of guy. He’s got three years left on his deal, and it’s a lock that he’ll retire from baseball and you’ll never hear from him again.”
