The Washington Nationals and the Baltimore Orioles have reached an agreement to settle part of their dispute over payment to the Nationals for the value of the local broadcasts of games, the Washington Post reported.

According to a Post report, the agreement covers the value of the local television rights covering the years 2012 to 2016. There was a $100 million discrepancy between what Baltimore paid and what Major League Baseball and New York State courts ruled was owed to Washington. The Post, citing two unnamed sources, reported that the Orioles have agreed to pay that full amount.

Of course, this settlement does not end the long dispute between the two clubs separated by some 40 miles. No agreement has been reached for the years 2017 to 2021 and the larger agreement that sees the Orioles control the television rights for the Nationals remains in place, per the Post.

A resolution of this settlement could impact the sale of the Nationals, which was announced by the Lerner family who owns the club ahead of the 2022 MLB season. Ted Leonsis, who owns the Washington Wizards and Washington Capitals, has reportedly been interested in buying the team and made an offer for the franchise last year.
