Watch: Kyle Schwarber homers 3 times against Mets Sunday, capping 5-HR, two-game streak

Washington Nationals slugger Kyle Schwarber is the hottest hitter in baseball currently. He's so hot, that a two-home run performance Saturday won't go down as his most notable of the weekend.

That's because Schwarber has homered three times against the New York Mets Sunday:

With three home runs today, Schwarber has pulled even with Atlanta Braves star Ronald Acuña Jr. for second in home runs in the National League at 18. Only San Diego Padres shortstop Fernando Tatís Jr. has more among those in the senior circuit, with 22 home runs.

Non-tendered by the Chicago Cubs after parts of six seasons with the franchise, Schwarber, now 28, signed a one-year/$10 million deal with the Nationals in January, a pact that features a mutual option for the 2022 season.

The Nationals beat the Mets 5-2 on Sunday, taking three of four in the series to climb within five games of first place.
