BMitch & Finlay: Commanders VP of Fan Experience Joey Colby-Begovich shares some upgrades to camp, FedEx Field

Joey Colby-Begovich is the Vice President of Guest Experience for the Washington Commanders, so if there’s anyone to talk to about the upgrades the team is making for fans to come see some open training camp practices, it’s him – and we did just that when he joined BMitch & Finlay on Tuesday.

Colby-Begovich was with Brian Mitchell at the DC Pride parade this past weekend, where he said that ‘fans were loving the Commanders this weekend,’ and there’s going to be more to love when they get the chance to see 12 open practices starting July 27.

“We have 12 open days of camp, first one July 27, and we’ll have some really fun theme days sprinkled in,” Colby-Begovich said. “We’re really blowing it up this year. We’re constructing a 2,000-seat bleacher section with some VIP hospitality suites on top of it, and some tented areas to host other groups. The big day, though, will be July 29, our “Back Together Saturday” where we’ll have NFL Network on site and everyone in attendance will get a Commanders fan pack, and on August 8 and 9, we’ll have Military Appreciation Day and then Kids Day, where we’ll be hosting kids from across the DMV.”

Tickets are required but they are free and unlimited, and the team has contracted with Dulles Town Center for free parking and a shuttle to camp in Ashburn. There will be local food trucks on site every day, as well as a satellite team store for fans to get merchandise and gear, and ‘it’s going to be a big party’ according to Colby-Begovich.

And, when it comes to FedEx Field and the regular-season opener, fans can expect some great new experiences there, too.

“We have brand new HD video boards in our end zone, and we are upgrading our sound experience to make it richer and bolder for all fans,” Colby-Begovich said. “We hope that will contribute to a better fan atmosphere at games this fall.”

Even Colby-Begovich noted “we’re hoping for a new Stadium in the near future, so we couldn’t go too big,” but it looks like a better fan experience anywhere and everywhere for Commanders fans this year!

"We listen to the fans, and they've been saying they want a more accessible, up-close, fan-friendly camp experience," Colby-Begovich said, "and we feel like we can deliver that this year."
