BMitch & Finlay discuss the fan experience upgrades at FedEx Field for 2023

The Commanders will eventually need, and get, a new stadium, but since you can’t just pull one out of thin air, we’re going to have to make do with FedEx Field for the near future.

At the very least, new ownership has pledged to refurbish the stadium to the tune of almost nine digits in the short term, with $40 million of that going into the fan experience – something that is sorely needed.

BMitch & Finlay were discussing some of what Josh Harris said in an interview this week during Thursday’s show, weighing in on his thoughts on Ron Rivera and how the franchise is solely focused on Super Bowls – and to JP, at least, it’s fair to wonder if an earlier closing on the team might have meant an on-field overhaul that they realistically couldn’t do taking over in late-July.

That said, “you focus the first year on all the non-football things that you can improve upon: food parking, upgrading the stadium.”

“All of those things help the bottom line,” BMitch said, “so it's not like, they don't have to come in and worry about what we think they're supposed to worry about. Now, if something goes terribly wrong at FedEx Field, another sewage pipe bursts, you know, they’ll take care of that, but they’re rolling in to try and do stuff right now.”

JP doesn’t know if they’ve gone through the stadium inch-by-inch, but he IS excited that the owners put a full-page ad in the Washington Post to explain some of the improvements coming to FedEx that you’ll see Sunday, including new audio-visual elements and concessions (both offerings and prices), as well as an interesting one to Finlay: fan giveaways.

“I think the exit stuff is really smart, because my guess is you don't start giving that out until maybe the end of the third quarter, or maybe not till the game is over,” Finlay said. “Keep people in the seats!”\

Take a listen above as the guys go through some of the improvements and what they’ll bring to fans at FedEx this year!
