After months, heck, years, of talking about the dynsfunction in the Commanders, organization, MAN is BMitch loving the nice, smooth, fun beginning to this league year.
"Let me say, I love this new staff for Washington Commanders. They have everybody in the mindset of 'we're doing our jobs,'" Brian said. "Like last year, when the OTAs started, and the years before that, they were promoting who wasn't there and all that type of stuff."
OTAs started yesterday, and Brian broke down exactly what that process will entail over the three phases of OTAs, with this one being two weeks of meetings, strength and conditioning work, and injury rehab only.
Phase three is what we know as OTAs, 10 days of practice with no live contact, only 7-on-7 and 11-on-11 drills, and the Commanders can have two voluntary veteran minicamps. They'll have one April 22-24 and OTA practices over three-plus weeks in May and June ahead of a second mini-camp…but don't think people won't be around otherwise.
"I love how they stretch that thing completely out, but you think all those other days the guys aren't gonna be in the building? They're gonna be in the building, believe me, and I love that," Brian said. "They want to be in the building because the guys are just like little kids when they're starting school for the first day – you can't wait for it to start."
Brian DID warn, however, to stop being so crazy on social media after seeing someone poke fun at Chase Young not being there, because as Doc Walker always says, 'cheer for the people who are playing.'
Take a listen to B's entire soliloquy on OTAs beginning in the audio above!
"We have a whole new looking team right now – watch the Commanders.
Adam Peters has rolled in, Dan Quinn has rolled in, and they got people who they think can go out there and present the mindset that they have and go out and play with the vigor that they want them to play with," Brian said. "We are not concerned about who's gone. I'm not trying to sit here and bash anyone who is gone, but the 90 people that go into mini-camp are who we need to cheer for, and hope we find that 53, and then the damn practice squad, that we'll be asked to watch try to win for us. That's who we need to be concerned about. Let's stop questioning everything and go back to what we believe."
